Project Jacquard

Project Jacquard makes it possible to weave touch and gesture interactivity into any textile using standard, industrial looms. Everyday objects such as clothes and furniture can be transformed into interactive surfaces. Innovative techniques to attach conductive yarns to connectors and tiny circuits, engineered to be as discreet as possible, connect the user to online services, apps, or phone features. The Levi's® innovation team and Google teams joined forces to create a modern version of denim that is interactive and yet authentic, remaining true to the century-old tradition of denim manufacturing. They remain the iconic garments that we know and love, but they are enhanced with digital functionality. Project Jacquard will allow designers and developers to build connected, touch-sensitive textiles into their own products.

As a person with a unique and diverse sense of style, I also LOVE learning about technology and how it can be combined in fashion. As the times move forward and innovation, especially in fashion, is becoming the wave of the future, I can't help but to be excited about what people will be wearing in the upcoming years. Since the "athleisure" style is making its way into our everyday choices of dress, this added segment transitions nicely into our comfort/convenience trend. I also love how designers and brands can use this to create something of their own and still be marketed towards their consumers-this evolution is going to be like nothing we have ever seen. As a consumer, I am going to have to evolve along with my favorite brands. However, although this adds a new style to my closet, I will be paying more attention to the materials I buy and the quality/craftsmanship of the garments. Overall, this is pretty awesome!
